Hygge-based Gratitude

Every morning for the past few years, I’ve jotted a quick note of something I’m grateful for. It helps start the day on a positive note, and puts my mind somewhere cozier.

This year, I decided to focus each month with a theme. Get really specific. Inspired by one of my Christmas presents, “The Little Book of Hygge: Danish Secrets to Happy Living, I decided to write down all things “cozy” (the definition of Hygge – pronounced hoog-a).

Being cozy is an enormous luxury, as I found out by these daily notes. Warm water, dry socks, and sweets aren’t something any human should take for granted, because not everyone is so fortunate to have these.

Hope you enjoy and find ways to embrace your good fortune of hygge!

Welcome!

Years and years ago, we (Stephanie and Nicole) collaborated on a lifestyle blog, before we realized that lifestyle blogs were even lifestyle blogs. We called it “Cinco Style” and it was an assortment of photos, recipes, projects, and favorites. This was pre-Pinterest, pre-Instagram, if you can even remember that far back!

In time, our professional and personal goals have aligned in such a way that we felt compelled to start an updated version of that old blog (which has since been deleted, sadly). Stephanie is a floral designer, landscape architect, fiber artist & quilter, hostess with the mostess, and visual merchandiser. Oh yeah, she has also two children. Nicole is a freelance writer, a painter, a bookkeeper at an arts council, an arts advocate, and an entrepreneur. Oh yeah, and she also has two children.

Because of our busy schedules, indulging in our favorites is a necessity. That means sparkling wine in fancy teacups, splurging on a shellac manicure, gathering friends for impromptu parties, and enjoying a fresh bouquet of peonies, grown in the backyard. It means making relaxing bath concoctions, and then taking those baths, going to the movies with our families, and sitting by the fire telling stories.

“Bubbly in a Teacup” will highlight all of life’s little luxuries that we can afford, on our boxed-wine budget. Whether it’s from eye-lash serum to perfecting a vodka gimlet, we hope to inspire you to seek out your own happiness and joy.

Cheers! –Stephanie & Nicole
